Six points that apply to the entire job advertisement: amount of information, consistent tone of address, discrimination, images, authenticity, and readability.

Finding qualified employees is of crucial importance for companies. The job offer is often the first point of contact for people looking for a job. It is therefore all the more important that it is convincing from the very first moment and leaves a good impression on candidates. But what makes a good job advertisement? We described the structure in the first part; here are the points that apply to the entire advertisement.

In any company, every position is unique and comes with its own responsibilities and conditions. The art lies in outlining these specifics in a job advertisement and conveying a precise idea of the daily work and the requirements. A compelling job description goes beyond a mere list of tasks. It not only defines the role, but also outlines the ideal candidate.

A good job advertisement offers the following advantages:

  • Decision-making: Job seekers can better decide whether a position matches their expectations, goals, interests, and values.
  • Cultural fit: Talent that identifies with the company's values and meets the job requirements will apply in a more targeted manner.
  • Long-term retention: The more accurately the description reflects the actual reality of the work, the higher the probability that employees will remain with the company long-term after being hired, because their expectations are confirmed in their day-to-day work.
  • Trust and credibility: Comprehensive and detailed descriptions demonstrate diligence. This builds trust with talent and gives the company credibility.
  • Job boards: High-quality job advertisements generally meet the guidelines of job boards and career platforms and are therefore not blocked.
  • Visibility: Advertisements with precise and relevant descriptions are ranked higher in talent search results.
  • Efficient recruiting: All these advantages lead to the recruiting team working more efficiently and having more time for applicants who are a true fit for the position.

Six points for the entire advertisement

In addition to the individual elements of a job advertisement, there are points you should keep in mind throughout the entire text.

Tip 1: Less is not always better

There are areas of a job advertisement that should not be overloaded with information, such as the list of qualifications. In principle, however, more information is helpful for talent. The more details a person has, the more concrete and accurate their idea of the position, the daily work routine, and the requirements will be.

Tip 2: Consistent tone of address

The tone of address should be consistent, whether it is informal or formal. This applies throughout the entire application process, i.e., in the job advertisement, in emails, in interviews, and in phone calls.

Tip 3: Avoid discrimination
